Increase your chances of getting a job before you leave School or TAFE


The aim of the School Leaver Program is to assist & prepare students with disability transition from school or TAFE to entering mainstream workforce in their chosen career path.

DVJS assists students develop REAL skills, gain REAL work experience & obtain employment in their chosen field. Many students  face difficulty finding a job when they leave school/ linking with DVJS, they increase their chances of obtaining employment before they leave school/TAFE.

DVJS works with students in their final year of schooling by assisting them overcome barriers, build confidence & work awareness.

DVJS relies on suitable opportunities being available within the labour market & cannot guarantee employment will be obtained.

Chisholm TAFE (TSEP)

DVJS is very proud to be partnering with Chisholm Institute TAFE under a pilot program called TAFE Specialist Employment Partnership which commenced November 2020. DVJS & Chisholm will collaboratively work to assist TAFE students with disability who are either about to graduate or who have graduated find suitable employment related to their course.

How DVJS works with Students/ Graduates

  • Dedicated employment consultant to mentor and prepare students for work.
  • Post Placement Support to support the student with any issues identified at their workplace.
  • Arrange work trials & work experience with suitable employers to gain work skills & confidence.
  • Arrange wage subsidies for their employer as an incentive to give them a job opportunity.
  • Assistance in accessing Traineeship & Apprenticeship schemes.

Eligible School Leaver Students are those who

  • Are in their final year of Secondary schooling (Conditions apply if not in final year) or TAFE.
  • Are in their final 6 months of participating in an eligible post-school employment or transition to work program for people with disability.
  • Are of legal working age
  • Attract additional educational funding due to their disability or enrolled at a Special School or recently completed a Transition to Work Program (special needs).
