STANDARD 9 Employment ConditionsDandenong Valley Job Support Inc. recognises that each person with a disability should enjoy comparable working conditions to those expected and enjoyed by the general workforce. Dandenong Valley Job Support will ensure that employers pay consumers according to the award at their workplace by confirming wage rates via ?VECCI? or ?Wagenet?. Any discrepancy is discussed and addressed prior to the consumer commencing with the employer. Dandenong Valley Job Support Inc. will ensure that consumers are placed into employment positions that satisfy the following? (1) The consumer has expressed an interest in undertaking the type of work being offered. The consumer will not be forced to accept a job that they do not want. (2) The consumer is able to access the workplace. (3) The job pays at least the minimum award wage or under the ?Supported Wage Scheme? for the work and hours being performed by the consumer including associated compliance costs such as Superannuation. This will be done in the following ways? Consumers will not be placed into employment until wage rates have been confirmed with the employer and checked that the rate given is corresponding to the award. Pay advices & Superannuation contributions will be checked during maintenance visits within the consumers first 26 weeks of employment. (4) The workplace is a safe environment for consumers as; o Staff are required to complete Occupational Health & Safety training enabling them to thoroughly risk assess the workplace prior to consumers being considered for employment. o In the event that the consumer may have a history of behaviours that may place others at the worksite to risk, these positions will be excluded to the consumer. o Ensuring that when consumers commence employment that they are properly inducted. (5) The terms and conditions set out in the relevant Award or agreement are applied to the consumer undertaking the position. DVJS will continue to foster its awareness of relevant industrial legislation regarding the consumer position such as ensuring that increases to wage rates and Superannuation Guarantee are upheld as they become mandatory to the consumers Award that they are employed upon by undertaking regular maintenance checks by the Maintenance Officer. Supported Wage SystemDandenong Valley Job Support acknowledges that some consumers will not be able to meet an employers expected level of production and/ or able to meet all duties associated to their position. When a consumer is unable to meet the required productivity rates, DVJS will discuss with the consumer, their advocate and employer about being assessed on Supported Wage System (SWS). Upon agreement, DVJS would arrange for an independent SWS assessor to conduct an assessment of the consumer at their workplace to determine the appropriate wage rate that the employer may pay upon. Refer to Supported Wage System guidelines for more details. |
